Our Workshops

  • Informed & Empowered

Are you a school, community group, college or uniformed group? These sessions are here to help improve children and young people's knowledge and understanding of their rights. We provide a safe space to share experiences, and identify techniques that can be used to confidently and safely navigate stop and search encounters, witnessing over policing and what to do after a police encounter. We can run full day workshops, half day sessions, lecture style or focused delivery, we cater to your students needs and make the sessions age specific.

  • Rights, Responsibility & Welfare

We recognise that it is not enough for only children and young people to know their stop and search rights. These sessions aim to strengthen the vital role parents, caregivers, and professionals play in supporting and safeguarding children. They equip them with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to engage in sensitive stop and search conversations with children and young people. We run these sessions with groups of up to 15 people, to give everyone the chance to retain the knowledge, we include role play and where you can get additional infomation.

  • Transparency and Accountability:

Do you share our belief that everyone has an active role in promoting public safety? The police are policing by our consent so ensuring police accountability and transparency is essential. We want to create socially cohesive communities, who understand this. These sessions empower people to record and report any worrying police interactions they see. These session equip the public with the knowledge and confidence to support people experiencing a police encounter or multiple police encounters.

  • Community Scrutiny

Do you want to ask the Police in your area questions about policing your community? Understand the data and evidence based policing? External community-led scrutiny plays an essential function in ensuring police accountability. People, especially those impacted by over-policing, should be encouraged to participate in civic spaces. UNJUST has designed this series of engaging workshops to support the learning and development of community members, wishing to sit on panels and in scrutiny spaces. We are committed to strengthening the capacity of community scrutiny mechanisms.

  • Independent Observers and Active Citizens

Have you ever seen a situation involving the police and felt like you wish you could do more? These sessions are aimed at everyone who would like to be an active citizen and not a by-stander. Independent Observers can make the difference between someone being treated with dignity or not in many cases. Just watching the police, can sometimes change the course of events and we are here to train people to take on these roles. Darnella Frazier recorded George Floyd, she changed the course of events by being as Active Citizen - you can make a difference too.
